In 2019, at the prestigious Putrajaya International Islamic Arts & Culture Festival (PIIACUF), something revolutionary happened. Among the intricate calligraphy, cultural showcases, and traditional exhibitions stood a futuristic portal — Putrajaya’s first-ever Augmented Reality Exhibition, designed and delivered by our team at NOVA Network.
This wasn’t just about technology — it was about reviving Islamic legacy through innovation.
We brought to life legendary Islamic figures from the worlds of science, arts, engineering, and chemistry, using AR-powered storytelling. With a simple scan of their phones, visitors could meet the minds who changed the world — from Ibn Sina to Al-Jazari, visualized in full motion and context, right inside the exhibition hall.
But that wasn’t all.
In a magical fusion of culture and tech, we also created an AR Gamelan Experience. A real gamelan set was placed at the center, but the musicians? They were virtual. Through Augmented Reality, visitors could watch traditional gamelan performers play live — entirely through their screens. It was surreal, interactive, and deeply cultural.
The impact? Over 10,000 engagements in just three days.
It was more than just a tech showcase. It was proof that Islamic history can be told in new, powerful ways — blending education, culture, and innovation into one immersive journey.
Here’s what they explored:
1. Exhibit A : Calligraphy 99 Names of Allah
2. Exhibit B : Gamelan
3. Exhibit C : Muslim Scientists
4. Exhibit D : Musical Instruments
5. Exhibit E : AR Games for kids
6. Exhibit F : Flora and Fauna of Putrajaya
The Result?
The exhibition saw more than 10,000 engagements in just 3 days — a powerful sign that Malaysians are ready for interactive cultural experiences that honour the past while embracing the future.
This wasn't just an exhibition. It was a statement.
A celebration of Islamic heritage told through technology, artistry, and heart — made possible by the visionary collaboration between Putrajaya and our team at NOVA Network.
We’re proud to have been part of this milestone — making Putrajaya the stage for Malaysia’s first AR-driven Islamic arts exhibition, and showing how the past and future can harmoniously coexist.
